METRO MANILA – Globe Telecom announced that it has successfully installed 39 new cell towers in previously underserved areas in Mindanao, Northern Luzon, South Luzon, and Visayas.

These newly-installed cell towers in 23 provinces and one city will further improve the call, SMS, and data experience of more than 100,000 current Globe and future customers, as demand for connectivity continues to rise especially in areas where so many households depend on the internet for work from home and distance learning requirements.

In Mindanao, Globe was able to build at least one cell tower in Jabonga, Agusan Del Norte; Don Carlos and Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon; Paquibato in Davao City; Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental; Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao; and Veruela, Agusan del Sur.

Palawan topped the provinces with the most builds in South Luzon with seven cell towers in Busuanga, Coron and Puerto Princesa. At least one tower was installed in Paracale, Camarines Norte; Calabanga, Camarines Sur; Mogpog and Sta. Cruz in Marinduque; Lubang, Occidental, Mindoro; Roxas, Oriental Mindoro; and San Narciso, Quezon.

Globe has also expanded its network in Abuyog, Javier, Kananga and Palompon in Leyte; Butuan and Carmen in Bohol; Caurtero, Capiz; Camotes Island, Cebu; Bonbon, Cebu City; Buenavista in Guimaras; and Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

In North Luzon, recent installations were made in Dipaculao, Aurora; Sanchez Mitra, Cagayan; Delfin Albano, Isabela; and Bangar, La Union.

More installations are underway as Globe is targeting to build at least 2,000 new cell towers this year.

“This is just the start because Globe recognizes the value of connectivity as the rest of the country continues to cope with the demands of the new normal. Our aggressive network builds and investments in areas that matter to us, where our customers need the service they deserve, will continue in 2021,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

The new builds and upgrades have begun to improve the overall experience of customers. Ookla®’s quarterly data showed that Globe’s overall mobile Consistency Score™ in Q4 2020 improved to 60.82% from Q3’s 56.83%.

Globe’s regional mobile Consistency Scores also improved from the previous quarter in 16 out of 17 regions, registering increases as high as 10 PPTs (percentage points), with Consistency Scores ranging from 39% and 65% in Q4 2020. – BusinessNews.ph
