Listed food and beverage kiosk operator Fruitas Holdings announced that it will soon offer freshly baked pan de sal and other bread products in its community stores, marking its foray into the bakery business.
As production is increased, Fruitas said it will open several standalone Babot’s Panaderya, with initial rollout plans of four branches in Metro Manila and one branch in the provincial area.
In March 2020, the company began adjusting to the realities of the distribution challenges brought by the pandemic and subsequent quarantines with the purchase of CocoDelivery.
Further, in recent months, Fruitas has expanded its product suite and also tapped partners to distribute some of its products. Fruitas decided to enter the bakery business itself to serve the demand of its customers for freshly baked bread.
Fruitas is leveraging off the baking expertise and capacity of Negril Trading Inc., which houses its De Original Jamaican Pattie brand. As a result, Fruitas is initially entering the bakery business with minimal capital expenditure.
Moreover, it is building on its track record of providing Filipinos fresh and high-quality alternatives for fruit juices, soy-based products, ice cream and milk.
As Fruitas enters the bakery business, it will have the distinct advantage of being the only company to offer flexible and enhanced consumer distribution.
The Fruitas community stores currently offer ‘curbside’ ordering and pickup as well as home and office delivery through its CocoDelivery subsidiary.
Fruitas bread products will be available to consumers through its community stores, CocoDelivery, and soon through Babot’s Panaderya. Fruitas is also exploring the sale of its own bread products in some of its kiosks and to selected institutional customers.
