Lalamove, a Hong Kong-headquartered on-demand delivery startup, has announced that it will shut down the operation of LalaFood, its food delivery business in the Philippines, from February 16.
“We express our deepest gratitude to all of LalaFood’s customers for your continued support, and to our partner riders and merchants who were with us through this journey,” the company said in a statement.
Lalamove added that it will redirect its focus entirely on its core Lalamove delivery business. The last day of LalaFood platform’s operations will be on February 15, 2021.
“2021 will continue to be another year of strong growth for Lalamove in the Philippines. We are committed to strengthening our investment in the Philippines to better serve our customers and provide more opportunities for our driver-partners and employees,” it added.
Lalamove also announced that its expansion plans are already underway in Manila and the province of Pampanga in February 2021.
“We place great confidence in the Philippine market and we are excited for what lies ahead in 2021. The year is just unfolding and there’s much in store for us all,” Lalamove said.
LalaFood was launched in 2018 as an incubation project by Lalamove to explore the food delivery sector. It competes with GrabFood and FoodPanda in the Philippines. – BusinessNews.ph
