The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the ruling party of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has endorsed Yogi Filemon Ruiz for Cebu City mayor, strengthening his campaign under the “BAG-O NA PUD!” movement, which calls for political change in the city.
PFP National President Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. personally delivered the endorsement at a gathering on N. Bacalso Street on Friday, where thousands rallied in support of Ruiz’s candidacy. The event underscored growing support for a break from what organizers described as “long-standing political stagnation.”
Ruiz, a candidate under Partido Cebuano, positioned himself as an alternative to traditional politics, vowing to implement governance reforms centered on transparency, public accountability, and efficient city management.
“Cebu City is at a crossroads. For years, traditional politics have dominated the landscape, yet many pressing problems remain unresolved. Today, we take a stand and say ‘Bag-o na pud!’ It’s time for leadership that truly listens and delivers,” Ruiz told the crowd.
Tamayo said Ruiz embodies the PFP’s principles of strong and decisive leadership. “Cebu City deserves a leader who does not just make promises but delivers results,” he said, adding that Ruiz has the discipline and experience to transform the city.
The movement has gained traction among various sectors, including vendors, students, workers, women, seniors, and entrepreneurs. Supporters cited concerns such as traffic congestion, infrastructure issues, and inefficient public services as key areas in need of reform.
With elections approaching, Ruiz’s campaign is gaining momentum, and the PFP endorsement is expected to further consolidate his position as the leading challenger to the city’s entrenched political forces.
