Cebu Technological University (CTU) has partnered with cybersecurity firm Resecurity Inc. to bring industry-based cyber threat intelligence training into its academic curriculum, giving students access to specialised technology and potential internship opportunities.
The agreement was formalised through a memorandum of agreement signed by CTU Officer-in-Charge University President Jonita V. Literatus and Ben Ouano, Resecurity’s chief operating officer for the Indo-Pacific region.
Under the partnership, students will gain access to Resecurity Context, the company’s cyber threat intelligence platform, which provides real-time global threat monitoring and simulation-based learning. The platform will support classroom instruction and practical exercises in identifying, analysing and responding to cyber threats.
The training will cover five areas: cyber threat intelligence fundamentals; threat hunting and incident response; threat actor analysis and attribution; communication and terminology used in dark web investigations; and security operations, including digital forensics and ethical hacking.
Resecurity will provide industry experts to conduct seminars, mentor students and offer internship opportunities to qualified participants. CTU will integrate the training into its academic programmes, identify eligible students and provide the facilities and support needed for laboratory work and practical learning.
The partnership aims to strengthen students’ readiness for cybersecurity careers by exposing them to tools and practices used in the industry. However, the university and company did not disclose the number of students expected to participate, the programme’s budget or the duration of the agreement.
The signing ceremony was attended by CTU Vice President for Academic Affairs Reylan G. Capuno, College of Information and Communications Technology Dean Jose Maria Garcia III, University Data Protection Officer Johannes M. Camasura, faculty members and Ren Nograles, president of 888 Tech Exchange Ventures.
Resecurity has also collaborated with other Philippine organisations on cybersecurity education and training, including the Philippine Institute of Cyber Security Professionals. The company has supported student-led cyber defence activities, including Capture the Flag competitions with the Junior Information Systems Security Association of Asia Pacific College.
The CTU partnership adds to these initiatives by incorporating cyber threat intelligence tools and industry expertise into university-level training.
