Cebu Technological University (CTU) has partnered with US-based cybersecurity firm Resecurity Inc. to incorporate cyber threat intelligence training into its academic programmes, giving students access to industry tools and practical experience.
The partnership was formalised through a memorandum of agreement signed by CTU Officer-in-Charge University President Jonita V. Literatus and Ben Ouano, Resecurity’s chief operating officer for the Indo-Pacific region.
Under the agreement, students will use Resecurity Context, the company’s cyber threat intelligence platform, for classroom instruction and practical exercises in identifying and analysing cyber threats.
Training will cover threat hunting, incident response, threat actor analysis, dark web investigations, digital forensics and ethical hacking, among other areas.
Resecurity will provide specialists to conduct seminars, mentor students and offer internship opportunities to qualified participants. CTU will integrate the training into its curriculum, select eligible students and provide academic and logistical support for laboratory work and practical exercises.
The collaboration comes as universities and technology companies seek to align academic programmes with industry requirements for cybersecurity professionals, particularly in threat analysis, incident response and security operations.
CTU Vice President for Academic Affairs Reylan G. Capuno, College of Information and Communications Technology Dean Jose Maria Garcia III, University Data Protection Officer Johannes M. Camasura, faculty members and Ren Nograles, president of 888 Tech Exchange Ventures, attended the signing ceremony.
Resecurity has also pursued academic collaborations in the Philippines, including work with the Philippine Institute of Cyber Security Professionals and support for student-led cyber defence activities, such as Capture the Flag competitions organised with the Junior Information Systems Security Association of Asia Pacific College.
The agreement adds to the company’s engagement with Philippine educational institutions, combining access to cybersecurity technology with industry-led instruction and potential internship opportunities.
