    More than 150 indigents from Barangay Suba received 5-kilo packed ivory rice and canned goods in a Masonic Charity Event of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of the Philippines through Deputy District Grand Master Hudson Ong, along with the Brethren of Masonic District Region 7.

    Suba Barangay Captain Jojo Sable was there to grace the occasion, together with his son, Barangay Captain – Elect Jecmer, who delivered an inspirational message to his constituents.

    Beneficiaries were so happy to receive the blessings and thank everyone, including Councilor Rey Gealon whose office facilitated the event as well as the feeding program that followed for 300 more residents.

    Councilor Gealon, in his address to the beneficiaries, urged them to be resilient to the times, work doubly hard for the family, and most importantly, never forget to pray.

    He called upon well-meaning individuals and companies to share their blessings especially to the least of our brethren in the communities.

    The tourism industry is now on its feet as a cruise ship from Xiamen, China made its maiden voyage to the Subic Bay Freeport with a thousand passengers.

    The Blue Dream Star is the first luxury vessel of the eleven scheduled voyages to drop anchor at the Freeport from October 12 to November 21, 2023.

    The said cruise line is the first to offer outbound cruises from China since the onset of the pandemic.

    The arrival of this cruise ship was made possible through the determination and keen efforts of SBMA Chairman and Administrator Jonathan Tan, whose thrust is to boost the tourism industry in the Freeport.

    Earlier, Malacañang issued the Executive Order No. 271 and Executive Order No. 72 regarding the admission and stay of foreign nationals in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone as Temporary Visitors, who can stay for a maximum period of fourteen (14) days.

    10 more cruise ships are expected to arrive at Subic Bay bringing approximately 20 thousand tourists to the Freeport.

    Truck importers rally behind SBMA amidst broker ‘allegations’

    SUBIC BAY – Members and officers of the Subic Bay Truck Importers Association Inc. have vehemently denied allegations made by certain brokers and processors against the SBMA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority) management and its seaport department.

    The allegations were raised during a meeting that took place at the SBMA board room on September 29, 2023.

    In their letter, the company owners, association officers, and members clearly state, “We profoundly express our full support to SBMA management/seaport department and hereby refute all the malicious allegations and false accusations.”

    The signatories emphasize their commitment to adhering to the regulations, policies, and procedures set by SBMA and other related agencies.

    They added, “As companies paying duties and taxes to the government, we adhere to the rules and regulations… and would like to replace these unscrupulous brokers/processors who are giving a bad name to the association.”

    Leading the list of signatories were Pietro V. Geroue, president of the Subic Bay Truck Importers Association Inc., along with vice presidents Eva Tadus and Shahzad Ammad. The letter was further backed by over 30 members of the association, emphasizing its collective stance.
